Martina, who greeted me, couldn't have been more helpful and kind (and I really appreciated being able to leave my bags at the hotel until the time for my train the next day). I always stay near Cartwright Gardens, as I'm very fond of the area and it's good for the British Library and Kings Cross, but I'd not stayed in the George before. I will definitely come back again - not only is it a great price, but my room was very comfortable and had everything I could have wanted. The opportunity of watching freeview tv and using a computer to check my emails was an unexpected pleasure! My only suggestion would be the option of plain yoghurt for breakfast, for those who can't have milk on their cereal/muesli. Thanks for a great stay.
The location of this hotel was fantastic. Also, the inclusion of a breakfast that you could order to suit (and was brought to your table) was a big step up from similarly priced B&B alternatives in the area.
The communal showers needed better doors/walls around them. The floors of the shower rooms outside the tub were regularly wet or flooded.
Free breakfast. Free wireless. Free shampoo and soap. Knowledgeable staff could point you in the right direction if you asked. Perfect for young trackers on a budget
I got exactly what I was expecting
You get a friendly welcome and the full English breakfast is served with a friendly smile and is very tasty. This is included in the great price and you can have more of whatever you want. Bed was very comfortable and it is in a great location too!
There are only a couple of things that I can think of. 1) No lift 2) no air con But in fairness it does say this on web site because it is a listed building.
although we booked it as a b & b, we had to pay extra for the breakfasts. they were full english, very nice, and £4 each
Being a lady staying on her own in London, I felt safe staying in this area. The location of the hotel was close to train links and many fast food restaurants where you did not feel conspicuous eating alone, - and there were also many other places to eat within walking distance. I was a bit concerned about the shared facilities, but the shower room was free every morning when I went to use it at 7.15 am, so that was not a problem.
I had a single room which was very small and even though I had a desk, the size of the room made it impossible to sit down at the desk to work in the evenings. I had to sit on the bed to work! Breakfast did not start until 8 am in the mornings, and this was too late for me as I would have been late for my appointments. This was not a problem as there were plenty of places I was able to pick up a takeaway breakfast, however it was a shame that I was not able to use this facility.
good friendly staff - good breakfast we had a good sized rooms if a little noisy due to thin walls
The location is great, near to tube station
I was really disappointed with the shower facility. The water flow is really weak, and the temperature of the water kept changing. I think I caught a cold just because of the morning shower. I hope the hotel could do something about that.
Very handy location for bus and rail services. In a nice area. Rooms clean and well serviced and breakfast was good
Bit of a climb to the top of the hotel and room was very warm being a warm spring day
The George is in a great location in Bloomsbury. It is only a 15 min walk from Kings Cross/St Pancras and is walking distance to many central London sites.
The room was fine, but small. The shared bathroom facilities were more limited than I expected.
Very small, tiny washing basin and bathroom, but location is good, just steps away from Russel square station, and the shopping center. Probably good for individuals for travelling in the City, but definitely not appropriate for family with young children, as there is no elevator, and it would be difficlut to move between different floors with heavy belongs. Breakfast is ok, with eggs, hams, and toast upon demand.
Location was just what we wanted convenient for underground and short walk to the station. Nice leafy location on Bloomsbury. Room was nice and warm and comfy beds. Very nice breakfast, which is a pleasant surprise in a city location.
Decor and furnishings were worn and in need of an update. Carpets on the staircases were getting a bit threadbare, The room would benefit from secondary double glazing units ane the en-suite was miniscule.
the location was very convenient, the mattress and pillows were comfy. One of the staff (the girl who worked in the kitchen) was a sweetie, very helpful.
a typical back street London Hotel in need of a refurb but to be fair this is reflected in the price - you get what you pay for. The reception girls could be less gruff and smile more, not particularly welcoming. .
Good location, easily accesible from St Pancras International. Fair value for money.
The subway can be felt from the rooms on the first floor. Bed was not very confortable.
Good location, nice personnel, everything in the room was in order. Room was clean.
No heat regulation in the room.Sometimes it was too hot and I had to keep the window open.
